Nature Environmental Consultancy served as the Lead Environmental Consultant for the major infrastructure development connecting Ramhan Island and Jubail Island, providing integrated ecological impact assessment, protection of sensitive coastal habitats, and environmental management throughout the project lifecycle.
Nature Environmental Consultancy led the overall environmental scope for the interchange project, providing technical oversight, regulatory compliance, and specialized mangrove compensation and management frameworks.
The project involved major marine and road construction connecting two ecologically significant islands, presenting potential impacts on marine and coastal habitats, risk of sediment dispersion during marine works, and potential alterations to tidal flow and water circulation. A primary challenge was managing unavoidable impacts on existing mangrove vegetation and delivering an effective, compliant mangrove compensation strategy.
Nature conducted comprehensive Marine Environmental Baseline Surveys and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to evaluate ecological risks and define mitigation measures. We prepared and submitted a Mangrove Protection and Management Plan (MPMP) to ADMI, incorporating health and biomass surveys, and implemented a robust Mangrove Compensation and Management strategy. Additionally, Nature performed quarterly CEMP audits and environmental monitoring to ensure full compliance with EAD NOC conditions and safeguard surrounding coastal ecosystems throughout construction.
